ANKENY, IA (August 6, 2025) – Edged, the fast-growing sustainable infrastructure provider, celebrated a major project milestone yesterday with the topping out of its newest AI-ready data center. Strategically located at 9100 SE Four Mile Drive in Ankeny just north of Des Moines, one of the nation’s fastest growing tech hubs, the facility will be built to support high-density Artificial Intelligence (AI) workloads and equipped with advanced closed-loop waterless cooling and ultra-efficient energy systems.
The topping out event, marking the completion of the building’s structural framework, was attended by Edged operations and construction leaders, design-build firm Burns & McDonnell, and key project partners. This milestone was marked with a ceremonial beam signing, acknowledging the hard work and collaboration that has gone into the project.

Edged Des Moines will be one of the most water-efficient data centers in the state, saving more than 52 million gallons of water annually compared to conventional data centers thanks to its state-of-the-art ThermalWorks waterless cooling system. The modular system supports densities of up to 70 kW per rack with air cooling and 200 kW per rack with plug-and-play liquid cooling integration—ideal for the growing demands of hyperscalers, cloud providers and large enterprises.
Edged Des Moines is expected to be fully operational by end of 2026 and will join a growing network of Edged facilities currently under construction or operational across the U.S., including in Atlanta, Dallas, Kansas City, Chicago, Columbus and Phoenix.
